The Results of Rebellion Against God | J. Allen Mashburn
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
We are still dealing with the theme of God's divine wrath against sin. In this passage, we fin the results of man's rebellion against God told in clear, precise language.
I would like to call you attention to three terms that are used in our text; they are: "God also gave them up", v. 24; "God gave them up", v. 26; and "God gave them over", v.28. These phrases tell us that there is a limit to the patience and long-suffering of God. As we study these verses, it will become apparent that when man makes his choice to abandon God, God will also choose to abandon man! That is a sobering thought!
We are surrounded by millions of people who have been abandoned to the lifestyle they have chosen over God. These people are capable of any sin imaginable this evening. The truth is, there are people we all know who are living a life that exists under the shadow of that is the result of their abandonment of God and of His subsequent abandonment of them.
With that in mind, let's look into these sobering verses and try to learn a little more about The Results Of Man's Rebellion.
Our website has much to say about our ministry, you may access it here.

Reasons for God's Wrath | Allen Mashburn
Sunday Jul 26, 2020
Sunday Jul 26, 2020
The wrath of God is a proven fact! In fact, the Bible doesn't seek to prove it, it is merely stated as being a reality. God is a God of love, but at the same time, He is a God of intense wrath! His wrath is revealed in the world today and will be experienced, in eternity, by every person who leaves this world without a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Some may wonder why God even possesses wrath as a part of His nature. The answer to that question is found in these verses. God tells us in the clearest of words why His wrath is kindled against the children of this world.
Let's look into this passage together and notice these 4 reason that are given for the wrath of God.

The Wrath of God | Allen Mashburn
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
The first portion of chapter one has been devoted to an explanation of the Gospel and the reason for his sending this letter. Now, in this second section of chapter one, the Apostle turns his attention to those who are away from the Lord and are in need of this Gospel. For, just as much as Paul wanted the Romans to understand what the Gospel message was all about, he also wanted them to know why such a message was even necessary.
Therefore, Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write about the wrath of God. It is God's wrath against sin that forms the hub around which this last half of chapter one revolves. Now, I know that preaching about God's anger against sin is not a popular thing in our day. Man has tried his best to reduce God to some dim-witted, doting old grandfather type figure Who merely winks at the flaws in mankind and possesses no other emotion but love.
In reality, God is love, however, His one aspect of His love is His wrath and hatred of sin. God is a perfect Being! God is perfect in His love, but He is also perfect in His holiness and judgment. Yes, God is love, but may I also remind you that God is hate as well? He is love toward the sinner, but He is hate toward sin! Many people are bothered by the thought of a God Who reacts in wrath and judgment, I would be bothered by a God Who didn't!
Paul's purpose here, and through chapter 3 verse 20, is to describe for us the charges against man. Paul is going to tell us why we need to believe the Gospel of grace. The first argument he uses to call men to the Lord is to lay out the case of the prosecution. Paul is going to reveal that problems God sees with men. However, before we can understand why God is angry, we need to know a little more about the anger of God.
In this verse, we find a definition and a description of the wrath of God. Understanding this will help us to understand what is to follow.

Being a Christian isn't for wimps! We have an adversary that is powerful, smart, certainly industrious, and seemingly knows no boundaries. However, we have a God who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. In the Word of God, we are given a blueprint of how a faithful believer operates, and conducts himself or herself.
Join us today as we see "What the Faithful Do."

America: A Nation in Need of Repentance | Allen Mashburn
Monday Jul 06, 2020
Monday Jul 06, 2020
I would like to draw our attention to what I believe is the greatest need in America today.
Many believe that our greatest need is jobs, others are sure the economy is the priority need of our nation, and still others would tell us that our greatest need is political, that we somehow must heal the political divide that hinders our nation from moving to a solution for its problems. I want you to know that our greatest problem as a nation is something far more easily solved than the economy, jobs, or political partisanship. Our greatest need in America is spiritual, and simple repentance and a return to biblical principles would do more to heal the wounds of this nation than anything else that can be named. Not only would a true spiritual revival cure the problems in America, it would be a swift solution that would result in immediate changes in every realm of American life.
Today, I want to take us back to the final days of the nation of Judah. A prophet named Jeremiah had been sent to them to preach to them the Word of the Lord. Judah, like America, refused to hear or heed the Word of God, and they were judged for their sins. America is headed toward the same end, if she does not repent of her sins and turn back to God. I want to speak on A Nation in Need of Repentance, and show you some of the lessons we can learn from ancient Judah. Let me share the lessons this text makes crystal clear. Join us as we discuss A Nation in Need of Repentance.

Why True Believers Can Rejoice | Allen Mashburn
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
Paul spends considerable time detailing man's need for salvation. We have learned that man is a sinner and that he abides under the wrath of God. We have learned that nothing associated with religion, works, the Law, or with rituals can ever provide salvation to humanity. We have seen that we are totally dependent upon faith to bring us into a right relationship with the Lord. It all comes down to realizing that it is not what we do that makes the difference in the saving of our souls, it is all about Who we know. When we know Jesus, we have salvation, when we do not know Jesus, we are lost, 1 John 5:12.
With this truth firmly nailed down, Paul now moves forward in his discussion of the doctrines of salvation. Now, Paul begins to tell his readers the benefits of being saved by grace through faith. In these first 5 verses of chapter 5, Paul tells us Why True Believers Can Rejoice in their salvation. It is that theme that I want to spend some time looking at this evening. I want to tell you Why True Believers Can Rejoice. If you haven't been in a rejoicing mood lately, I want to show you why every child of God has the right to praise the Lord and be filled with "joy unspeakable and full of glory", 1 Peter 1:8.

God's Idea of a Great Dad | J. Allen Mashburn
Saturday Jun 20, 2020
Saturday Jun 20, 2020
In the Bible, we are confronted with many poor examples of fathers.
Those who would fit this bill would be: Ahab – 1 Kings 22:52; the men of Israel, Psa. 78:8, 78:57, Jer. 9:14. These Scriptures, along with many others, give glaring proof that there are bad fathers all about. In our day, the bad father is not hard to find. They are everywhere. However, finding that man who stands out as an example of what a good father ought to be is a hard animal to track down. About 3,500 years ago, God looked down on Abraham and declared him to be a good father. If a person will take the time to look at the life of Abraham, the reasons for this glowing assessment become abundantly clear. Today, we are going to look at Abraham’s life and see God’s idea of what makes a great father.
By way of introduction, let me say that we live in a day when we need good male role models. It is getting hard for boys to find good, Christian males who are worth looking up to. It seems that men have forgotten what it means to be men. Our society seems determined to blur the line between the roles of men and those of women, but I say we need some real men who are not afraid to be men.
1. Remember when men were men?
2. Remember when you could tell by looking?
3. Remember when men knew who they were, liked how they were, & didn't want to be anything but what they were?
4. Remember when it was the men who boxed & wrestled & bragged about how much they could bench press?
5. Remember when it was the women who wore the makeup, the earrings & the swimsuits?
6. Remember when it was the men who initiated the contact & took the lead in a relationship, made lifelong commitments, treated a woman like a lady, & modeled a masculinity that displayed security & stability?
We need fewer spineless wimps who've never disentangled themselves from mama's apron strings, & more clear-thinking, hard-working, straight-talking men who, while tender, thoughtful, & loving, don't feel the need to ask permission for taking charge. I'm convinced that most single ladies would love to have men like that to spend time with...& most wives long to have men like that to share life with. Children especially like having dads like that.
Our children are looking for men like that!
